Elements and Principles of Design

Line-the linear marks made with a pen or brush or the edge created when 2 shapes meet














Shape-is a self contained defined area of geometric or organic form












Direction-all lines have direction-horizantal, vertical, or oblique














Size-is simply the relationship of the area occupied by one shape to that of another










Texture-is the surface quality of a shape-rough,smooth,soft hard glossy etc.











Color-also known as hue(visual perpetual property)














Value-lightness or darkness of a color











Balance-in design is similar to balance in physics















Gradation-is size and direction produce linear perspective
















Repetition-the same image repeated over and over agin












Contrast-is the juxtaposition of opposing elements















Harmony-is the visually satisfying effect of combining similar, related elements














Dominance-gives a painting interest, counteracting confusion and monotony













Unity-relating the design elements to the idea being expressed in a painting reinforces that principle of unity

Claymation Story

In our animation movie, the setting is going to be outside in a park. There is going to be two children as our characters, a boy and a girl. They like each other and they play in the park together.
